It was the official moving date for our church as we move from a gymnasium into a building! The children helped out with the loading of the truck. And I am always impressed with how willing they are to be helpful and what wonderful servants to Christ the young children in our church are. It is such an encouragement to all of us adults not to grow weary!

This week we are in the third part of the parable of the sower and we talked about the seed that fell among the thorns. We had a wonderful time digging into the bible and discussing what Jesus meant in this part of the parable. We also talked about how we spend our free time. We enjoyed looking at one of our days all written out on paper and seeing how much time we spend in certain areas. This was very helpful to see how we could be more purposeful with our time.

The Month of August 2009

The next four weeks in Children's Church we will be digging into the parable of the sower and in the book of Matthew. We are taking a look at what kind of soil we are. Are we dry and rocky or are we the nice moist soil ready to receive Gods word. We will also be discussing how to study Gods word and apply it to our lives.

Mat 13:23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

This Sunday we talked about worship and singing Praise to God, and how we can focus on HIM this way and enjoy His presence! We also talked about our choices in music, and if we thought our current music choices were pleasing to God. We enjoyed some pizza during church and celebrated giving thanks to God for the wonderful bake sale and all the blessings we received! "Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow." James 1:17

The Children finished up with the Bake Sale this week and they did a fabulous job offering their actions and time to God for the support of a ministry that is right here in the heart of Miami. 100% of the proceeds from the bake sale were given to Urban Resurrection. The children raised 270.00$.

In Children's Church this Sunday we talked about Solomon and the dedication of the temple. We also discussed prayer, what it is and how to do it. Hopefully the children will feel encouraged this week to reach out to God in prayer!

Sunday July 19th 2009

In Children's Church this week we read from 2Kings the story of King Joash and we talked about offerings to God. Now most people would think that an offering requires money. We discussed together how an offering to God can also be an action such as helping some one in need, and it can also be the giving of our time to God such as praying for someone. This week the Children held a bake sale to Support Urban Resurrection, and they learned about Faith in Action and put into practice an offering to God of money, time, and action. They also made an offering box to bring home as a place to set aside their offerings to God.

Sunday July 12th 2009

Today we learned about Worship and we read the story of Hezekiah from 2Chronicles 29 in the Bible. We talked about the different ways to Worship at church such as giving our offerings, singing, praying. But worship can take place anywhere and so we talked about other ways we Worship. With the understanding that when we focus our thoughts on God, we are Worshiping God! The kids made Hands Lifted High foam books to record some of the different ways they can worship.

We would also like to say Happy Birthday from Kids Mosaic to Jonathan and Anna who had Birthdays this week! And here is a special blessing for both of you from Numbers 6:24~26
"The Lord Bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."

This week we learned that God is Jehovah Rohi...meaning God is my Shepherd. We talked about the role of Shepherds and we read about David in the bible, and from Psalm 23. What a wonderful feeling it is to know that God cares for all people and that God cares for you!

Sunday June 28th 2009

July is fast approaching and we are well into our study of the names of God. This week we learned God is Jehovah Raphah and that all healing comes from God. So important for us to know and understand in this day and age when every one has a miracle cure for whatever ails you. Our Key Bible Verse was Psalm 86:10, and we made some fabulous bookmarks to remind us of this verse.

Sunday June 21st 2009

Today we celebrated Father's Day in church! And we learned that God is Jehovah Jireh. We talked about how we can trust God to provide for our needs. We shared experiences of times when God provided for us personally. We read from Exodus 16 and learned all about that special food called Manna and how God provided to the Israelites. The children made a special craft to give to their Father's, and we enjoyed a special treat of Popsicles that was just right for a really hot Miami day.

God is Elohim, that was our lesson this week. God is all powerful and we can trust God to protect us. And indeed what a mighty God we serve. The children worked on some homemade blankets for the Linus Project. They were able to get 4 blankets completed. And they did a fabulous job. It is our prayer now that these blankets would be a blessing and comfort to some children who are in need of this.

Sunday June 7th 2009

Whoa! It is the start of summer for most of our children this week and also the start for some new lessons in Children's Church. We will be using Worship Kidstyle for the next few weeks as the children learn about the different names of God! This week the kids learned that God is Yahweh. We read the story of Moses and the burning bush out of Exodus 3. The great thing about introducing a new curriculum is it is introducing the stories the children have heard before but we are looking at them differently with new questions and the children are learning new wisdom from God.
For the craft this week the kids made some fabulous burning bushes! Check below for a snapshot of the craft this week that one of our students made.

Sunday May 31st Church BBQ!

We enjoyed another Church BBQ this week with lots of good food and fellowship. We even had a special visit from the Ark of the Covenant with a teaching on it as well. And the rain was gracious enough to hold out until the very end! The Children all had fun climbing up the trees and playing games in the field and I think a few of the them were especially enjoying the yummy desserts and soda!!

Sunday May 31st 2009

Today, the children were challenged to be pure in every area of their lives and we helped them to understand that being in the Bible and reading His word daily is a great way to stay pure, on the path, and purpose that the Lord has for each them. The kids also made commitments to read their Bible each day for a month.
We will be checking in with them to see how they do!
They made some wonderful Mosaic fishes for the craft time check them out they did a really good job!

The Story of Joseph

In Children's Church this week we wanted to present the story of Joseph a little differently then how the kids have heard it before. We asked the children how many times they have heard the story of Joseph. One child said 50 and another child said 500 times. Well after hearing it 500 times we thought we would let them tell it to us showing what they have learned from the bible. Here enters the LEGO. We let the children choose parts from the story and then set up the LEGO's to depict each scene. They did an amazing job check out the slide show to see how they described the story and how Joseph Obey's God.

Art Exhibit

The children of Mosaic recently worked on an art piece together to enter a local art exhibit. Our hope was to be able to sell the art piece and then donate that money to one of the ministries within our church. Our art piece unfortunately did not sell. But the good news is that we were able to introduce our church to some neighbors and meet some wonderful new people and shine the light of Jesus into the art community. We are very proud of the work the children did on this piece it was wonderful to see them come together and create something so beautiful.
The art piece was also mentioned in several local newspapers.

Picnic

Our church recently shared a fun time of fellowship with a good old fashioned BBQ. We enjoyed some yummy food and a chance to get to know each other better. This was a great opportunity for the Children to spend some time together they tried out the game of Bocce Ball.
